Really... nissan is a decent vehicle for the money... cvt is new technology such I agree sucks and could have waited instead of jeopardizing their customers and testing them... I will not buy a cvt if any car was equipped with it. But their old conventional transmission is great I have owned nissan all my life and have had a great experience with them until cvt transmission came out but at least they are moving forward and trying new things and advancing to give a better smoother ride they just don't seem to be testing their equipment enough before selling it and providing a bad experience to the customer such will then push them away from purchasing another nissan like yourself, last time I checked there is no other car maker that is perfect even though I wish there was! Anyway give nissan another chance try their conventional auto trans its just that much better... what car do you own now? Im sure you never had a problem with it but if you start a forum stating that you have im sure you will get just as many as there are on this one??? Who knows maybe wont know until its tried.

Nissan "great" CVT technology vs Automatic transmission

We are car rental services in South Beach, Miami Beach, Florida. As an investment we decided to buy some new and popular cars like the so solicited Nissan Altima. The car looks cute and all women like it, but thanks God we got to test the car before we bought it. We were told the car has a Ultimate technology called CVT Transmission that will revolutionize the world as we know it today.
I have to admit that we believed what the guy was saying so we actually needed to test that amazing CVT technology. In the beginning the first thing I felt was the lack of power, even the car being 155 HP (which is powerful compared to a 4 inline cylinders conventional car) it really don’t pull at all, after the acceleration starts going up, you feel like the car has like dirt on the injectors because at the time the car “tries” to shift the gears without you noticing, actually you notice it but very little and it feels more like a defect. If you push the accelerator to the floor, you will see a one of a kind experience, unless you had already driven a car with a bad clutch before. The car feels clutched up all the time, and I believe this CVT system is eating up some horse power from the car…
After I finally came out of that car and got into a regular used Altima with standard Automatic transmission, ufff that was relaxing and everything came back to normal, you feel more control on the car, It feels more powerful and normal.
I wish we could see a race of the CVT car vs. the same car but with automatic transmission. If you find a video or more information online about this technology please add it to this blog
CVT = continuously variable transmission

When I say "I love downtime" it is refering as like when a 2007 Ford Mustang reachs 6,000RPM and shifts from 1st gear to 2nd gear. It feels so awesome and I don't see why we should eliminate it.
